In a bizarre incident that has left the residents of Pensacola, Florida, scratching their heads, a local man attempted to trade his baby for 15 Big Macs at a McDonald’s drive-thru. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the man, identified as 28-year-old David Johnson, pulled up to the drive-thru window with his 3-month-old son in the back seat.
Eyewitnesses report that Johnson placed his order for 15 Big Macs and then proceeded to offer his baby as payment. “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” said the McDonald’s employee who took the order, Maria Sanchez. “He said, ‘I’ve got this baby here, and I’m willing to trade him for those Big Macs. He’s a good kid, doesn’t cry much, and I’m sure he’ll make a great addition to your Happy Meal toy collection.'”
The McDonald’s manager, Bill Thompson, immediately called the police, who arrived on the scene within minutes. When questioned about his actions, Johnson reportedly said, “I just really wanted those Big Macs, and I didn’t have any money. I figured my baby was worth at least 15 of them, so it seemed like a fair trade to me.” The police promptly arrested Johnson on charges of child endangerment and attempted human trafficking. The baby, who was unharmed during the incident, is now in the custody of Child Protective Services. As for the McDonald’s employees, they were left in shock. “In all my years working here, I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Sanchez. “I mean, who tries to trade a baby for Big Macs? That’s just crazy, even for Florida.”
