Orlando, Florida – A family has filed a lawsuit against Disney World after a character in costume allegedly refused to break character to assist with a medical emergency. The incident occurred last week when the family was visiting the theme park.
According to the family, their 8-year-old son, Timmy, started choking on a piece of popcorn while posing for a photo with Goofy. The father, 42-year-old accountant John Smith, claimed that he pleaded with Goofy to help, but the character remained silent and continued to pose for pictures. “I was like, ‘Goofy, please, my son is choking!’ But he just stood there, grinning with that stupid smile,” John said. “I thought, ‘What’s more important, your job or my son’s life?'” The mother, 39-year-old teacher Sarah Smith, added, “We were shocked. I always thought Disney characters were supposed to be helpful and caring, not heartless and indifferent.”
Fortunately, a nearby park visitor, who happened to be a doctor, stepped in and successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on Timmy. The family expressed gratitude towards the doctor but remained furious with Disney World and the character actor. “We’re suing Disney for emotional distress and negligence,” John stated. “No amount of magic can make up for what we went through.”
Disney World has released a statement, saying, “We take the safety and well-being of our guests very seriously. Our characters are trained to stay in character at all times to maintain the immersive experience for all visitors. We are currently investigating the incident and will take appropriate action based on our findings.” The lawsuit is pending, and the family has vowed to fight until they receive justice and a sincere apology from Goofy himself.
